Krishnalaya February 2022

Dates: February 17 - 20 ( friday - monday)

Place: Krishnalaya, Piercy.

Few of us had similar thoughts that we could go for Krishnalaya beyond annual thanksgiving camps held in November. A small family group of 4-6 is ideally preferable. This is not chinmaya managed but managed by each one of us. Hence the overhead would be minimal.

Camp plans ( subject to approvals):

Friday, February 17: Reach there and spend some time in the krishna mandir.

Saturday/Sunday ( Rough timeline ): 

9-10 am: Bhagvad gita chanting / recitation from the Holy Gita book ( Chapter 3 or 12 or mutually decided one ).

10:30-11 am: Vishnu Sahasranama chanting and abhishekam

12 pm : Lunch

3 - 4 pm : Continuing Bhagvat gita parayanam

5-5:30 pm: Vishnu Sahasranama chanting and abhishekam

6 pm : Dinner

Monday:

Leave after morning final gita chant and vishnu sahasranamam.

Food:

Plan A:

We could take of individual family food on Friday/Saturday - given that we have electric cooker / food makers and food from home we could manage on these two days. Sunday - we could rent out kitchek and have basic food like dal kichdi/curd rice - or something basic that is open to the group. Breakfast is usual bread/toast etc. We could use fridge for the milk and heating. And rent out the helpers at $20/hr on Sunday for cleanup.

Plan B:

Same as Plan A except we could rent kitchen on Saturday also instead of getting food from home. 

 

Either of these plans, we have to act lockstep - as in applicable to all and cant pick and choose. 

 

For staying, one of us can coordindate collecting the amount and paying to Krushnalaya. Shailesh has already established communication links with John others there. 

 

Rough cost estimates:

Room costs: $105 or $85 depending on what you choose.

$105 * 3 nights =  $415

Kitchen

1 day rental: $150

2 day: $300

This would be split by 4-6 families that are coming.

Main areas : Temple is the only place where we sing satsangs. Library is the place for the kids and rest of the family members. February is a warm place so we could try setting up a tent outside room if John allows it. And food can be had in dining hall or outside in the park area as long as we self clean everything. 

Cleaner: At $20/hr for 2 persons - there could be a $80 charge.

Timeline

We could think about this and have a yes/no by end of december and then reach out for next steps to reserve those dates. As of now, there is no chinmaya activity being set up for these dates.
